Welcome to our website!

February 25, 2012.
EARS has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Town of Canmore for the transfer and sanctuary relocation of the first feral rabbits trapped. We have sustainable long-term support for approximately 235 rabbits. Please support our rescue efforts so we can continue to bring the rabbits of Canmore into sanctuary. We need $130 for each additional rabbit we bring into our care.

EARS is a registered charity currently working with the citizens of Canmore, Alberta to relocate the feral rabbit population to sanctuary. Save Canmore Bunnies is our local campaign. Visit: www.earthanimalrights.org to learn about our rescue work with the rabbit population at the University of Victoria last year.

In January, 2012 the Town of Canmore began trapping the rabbits of Canmore. If we can demonstrate that we have the financial means to sterilize the rabbits, relocate them to sanctuary, and provide for their on-going care and maintenance, Canmore Administration will continue to direct the hired trapper to release the rabbits to us. Otherwise, they will be killed!

Our current proposal to Canmore provides for sanctuary relocation for the first 200 rabbits trapped. We have secured two sanctuary locations outside of Calgary where these rabbits will live the remainder of their lives. Your donations and in-kind support spared these animals lives! We are looking into several other sanctuary prospects and have secured funding for a total of 215 rabbits.

Please continue to support our efforts so we can relocate more of Canmore's feral rabbit population to safety - before it is too late!!

All monies donated will directly support sanctuary relocation. We want to save as many lives as we can. Our success will be directly proportional to the amount of support we receive from the community. We value each life. We estimate the feral rabbit population to be about 800.
